Muscat Marathon

Christmas is the only time of year that I tend to feel a bit homesick; I miss spending time with my family and friends; I long for some of my favorite foods, Christmas songs on the radio, Christmas decorations, shopping and presents.

Instead of thinking about all the things I miss from home and feeling sad on Christmas Eve I went to Muscat with my new friends I met in Oman. Retail therapy is always an effective way to overcome the blues and we figured it would be a good opportunity to shop for some nice clothes for work. The others stuck to the plan and picked up a couple of new outfits but I got sidetracked at the Nike shop which was having a major sale.

The t-shirt was $13 and the skirt with leggings was $17.

I completely forgot about work clothes and I set my sights on finding a new running outfit for the Muscat Marathon. There will be three events – full marathon, half-marathon and a 10K. I will take part in the 10K which for some unknown reason is actually 10.3 kilometers, an extra 300 meters.

So, now that I have my running attire for the race it is time to focus on my training plan below for the next five weeks. (The distance is in miles.)

In closing, whether you are home or abroad, I hope that you are all enjoying this festive season with family and friends.
